You must visit further north, are the towns of Fajãzinha and Faja Grande, a good starting point for hikers with impressive waterfalls, such as the Cascade of Ribeira Grande.

The Lagoa Funda, Lagoon

The Lagoa Funda, in the Southwest of the capital, is a pond of the Azores located in the southern sector of the central highlands of the island of Flores, municipality of Lajes das Flores, Flores Island, Azores.

It is a pond altitude included in the set of Sete Lagoas that formed seven craters caused by volcanic eruptions that contributed to the current geology of Flowers.

It lies near the Lagoa Rasa. Following this comes from Ribeira Funda.

The remaining ponds of this set are called: White Pond, Long Pond, Rasa Lagoa, Lagoa da Lomba, Black Lagoon and Laguna Seca.

These seven “are volcanic explosion craters of the type related to maar hidromagmáticas eruptions in the central highlands of the island of Flores.

Environmental and Cultural Center in Boqueirão Whale Factory

The factory Whale is one of the important buildings but the whaling architecture, ordered built for the use of whale oil, which was the first great Florentine industry and economic activity that most benefited the local people.
The first work in this factory dating from the summer of 1944, a time that was marked by the world hunting the whale heyday, when there was a exciting rising oil price.

Convent of St. Bonaventure

This convent comes from a donation made by Father Ignatius Coelho in 1641 and was an important center Franciscan end of Six hundred. In 1832 this convent inn closes for imposition of D.
